  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Equipment

  • Large skillet or saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Grater (for Parmesan cheese)

Method

  1. Add butter and heavy cream to a large skillet over low heat. Simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Whisk in garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Continue whisking for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually add Parmesan cheese, whisking until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and let the sauce stand for 2–3 minutes to thicken if needed.
  5. Serve immediately over your favorite pasta.

Notes

  • Always use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest sauce.
  • Adjust thickness by adding a splash of reserved pasta water or cream as needed.
  • For a gluten-free version, check your ingredients.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat gently with a splash of milk or cream.
