Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup (113g or 1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (Optional)
  • Pinch of salt (especially if using unsalted butter) (Optional)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup chocolate chips (Optional)

Method
 

  1. Quick Prep: First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Then, line your 9x9 inch pan with parchment paper if using. Or, just grease the pan.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: Next, in a large bowl, stir together the melted salted butter and granulated sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla extract (if using). Stir with a whisk or spoon until just combined.
  3. Add Dry & Mix Quickly: Then, add the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt (if using) to the bowl. Stir until everything is just mixed together. Do not overmix. If adding chocolate chips, stir them in now.
  4. Bake: Pour the batter into your prepared pan. Spread it out. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. A toothpick put into the center should have moist crumbs.
  5. Cool Slightly & Enjoy: Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15-20 minutes if you can wait! This makes them easier to cut. Or, enjoy them warm for a quick, gooey treat. Finally, store any leftovers in an airtight container.
