- Wash the green beans thoroughly under cold running water.

- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
- Prepare a large bowl filled with ice water.
- Drop the trimmed beans into the boiling water and cook for exactly 2 minutes.
- The beans should turn bright green and stay slightly crisp.
- Using a slotted spoon, transfer the beans to the ice water bath to stop cooking.
- Let the beans cool for about 15 seconds, then drain well.
- Pat dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel before serving or using in recipes.
