Ingredients
  

Beef
  • 1 pound lean ground beef 80/20 works best
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning or 2 tablespoons homemade
  • 1 cup canned black beans drained and rinsed (optional)
Salad Base
  • 6 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup diced fresh tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 avocado diced
  • 1 cup tortilla chips
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
Additional Toppings
  • olives, bell peppers, jalapeños, or red onion optional, based on preference

Method
 

  1. Heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef until no pink remains. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and ½ cup water. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes until thickened. Stir in black beans if using.
  2. Wash and dry the lettuce. Place it in a large serving bowl or divide among plates. Top with seasoned beef. Add tomatoes, cheese, avocado, tortilla chips, salsa, and sour cream.

Notes

To add crunch and flair, serve with crushed tortilla chips or Doritos. Customize with your favorite toppings like jalapeños, red onions, or cilantro. This recipe works great for a taco salad bar setup too.
