Homemade Acai Bowl

Ingredients
  

Smoothie Base
  • 1 banana, sliced and frozen
  • 0.5 cup frozen blueberries
  • 0.5 cup frozen strawberries
  • 0.75 cup milk or fruit juice any type of milk or juice works well
  • 0.5 cup plain yogurt optional, can substitute with more milk or juice
  • 200 grams frozen acai puree use unsweetened, 2 packets broken into pieces
Toppings
  • sliced fruit banana, berries, or mango
  • granola check for low-sugar versions
  • nuts or seeds such as almonds, chia seeds, or flaxseeds
  • shredded coconut optional

Method
 

  1. Slice your banana and freeze it along with the berries if they are not already frozen. Place them on a tray and freeze until solid.
  2. In a high-speed blender, add milk or juice and yogurt first. Then add the frozen banana, berries, and broken acai packets.
  3. Blend on low speed using a tamper to move the mixture around. Only add more liquid if absolutely needed. Blend until thick and smooth.
  4. Spoon the acai smoothie into two bowls and top with fresh fruit, granola, nuts, seeds, and any other favorite toppings.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy while cold.

Notes

For a thicker consistency, use frozen fruit and a powerful blender with a tamper. Avoid adding sweetened yogurt or extra sugars to keep the bowl naturally healthy. You can also blend in tropical fruits like mango or papaya for variety.
