Ingredients

  • 2 oz Fresh Mango Puree
  • ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 4-5 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 4 oz Good Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic)
  • Ice Cubes
  • Fresh Mint Sprig, Lime Wheel/Wedge, Thin Mango Slice (Optional for garnish)

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or Measuring Spoons
  • Knife & Cutting Board
  • Strainer (Hawthorne and/or Fine Mesh)
  • Copper Mug or Highball Glass

Method

  1. Put ice in a copper mug or highball glass to chill it.
  2. Add mint leaves and lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Muddle gently 3-4 times.
  3. Pour mango puree into the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice, put the lid on tight, and shake hard for 15-20 seconds.
  5. Throw out the ice from the serving glass. Fill the glass with fresh ice.
  6. Use two strainers (double strain) to pour the mix from the shaker into the glass.
  7. Slowly add the ginger beer on top.
  8. Stir gently one time. Add garnish like a mint sprig and lime wheel and maybe a mango slice. Serve right away.

Notes

  • Use a good ginger beer that has a spicy kick for the best taste.
  • Fresh mango puree (from a ripe mango) tastes better than juice.
  • You can add more lime juice if you like it tart. Add simple syrup (¼ oz) if you want it sweeter.
